Poor battery life ranks high on common complaint with iPhones, iPads, and iPods. This understandable issue raises concern for Apple users. What if the battery dies and your car breaks down? What if you get lost and can no longer access phone numbers or maps? This puts the reliant user in risk of dangerous circumstances.

SIDEBAR: For emergencies, it’s always a good idea to have some sort of portable charger. When pre-charged, these battery packs allow you to charge your phone’s battery from wherever. They run about $10 per charger, and can be found online or in stores such as Target or Walmart. These tend to be especially handy for travelers.   1. Put your phone in Low Power Mode. 
    Go to Settings>Battery, then hit the small button next to “Low Power Mode.” Notice that the battery goes from green to yellow.This mode also shows what apps are using up the most power. 😉

  2. Lay your phone down so the screen faces the tabletop.
    Laying your phone facedown tells your phone not to light up when a notification comes in. If someone sends you a Snapchat or text, your phone will remain dark. This is also a great tip for keeping your bedroom dark if you sleep with your phone in your room.
  3. Turn on Reduce Motion option.
    Apple introduced motion capabilities to your devices around the time of iPhone 5. While this may make your home screen background look especially cool, it does use up some unnecessary battery life. Switch it off in your settings.

  4. If you’re in an area with little to no service, turn your phone into Airplane mode. 
    Swipe your finger from the bottom of the screen upwards. Hit the little airplane button on the far left. This will make your phone stop searching for a signal.This also works to make your phone charge faster if you’re in a hurry.

    5. Disable Background App Refresh

    Without this disabled, your apps, like Facebook or games, are refreshing in the background constantly. Find it under Settings>General. You can even disable only certain apps instead of all of them.
