Join Us: Great HEART Give Grant Presentation to The Center for Prevention of Abuse
Everyone is invited to The Center for Prevention of Abuse headquarters in Peoria, IL on Friday, May 20 at 11:30am for a grant presentation to our Great HEART Give 2016 winner!
In their Great HEART Give application, The Center for Prevention of Abuse stated itself as a local organization that “promotes building a safe, peaceful community by empowering all people–women, children, and men–to live free from violence and abuse. Each year, The Center provides emergency safe shelter and support services to approximately 5,000 victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as elderly and disabled victims of abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation. In addition, The Center provides school-based prevention education to nearly 30,000 local students to help them keep their bodies safe, prevent and address bullying, learn nonviolent conflict resolution skills, and develop healthy relationships.”
Once The Center of Prevention of Abuse became a finalist in this year’s Great HEART Give competition, they fought tirelessly each week to stay ahead of the other finalists. In fact, this year’s competition was definitely a close race–one of our most exciting years to date! However, The Center for Prevention of Abuse came out on top as this year’s Great HEART Give winner.
Now that The Center has officially won the $10,000 technology grant, we invite all to join us on Friday, May 20th at 11:30am to celebrate their win and watch them receive their check. The Center for Prevention of Abuse is located at 720 W. Joan Ct. in Peoria.
