Heart Tees It Up For The Troops
On Monday, August 24, Heart Technologies joined Tee It Up for the Troops for a day of golfing and honoring those who serve our country. Tee It Up For The Troops is a non-profit organization established in 2005 to support military families. The Peoria group’s efforts support “the Wounded Warriors, for Families of Servicemen and women of Central Illinois who, because of their commitment to serve have been faced with financial hardship (or challenge) and last to establish 10 Scholarships in the name of General Wayne Downing for the Children of Fallen Soldiers from Central Illinois or to further the education of a Disabled Soldier.”
Tee It Up For The Troops consisted of four tournaments ran at two golf courses. The mornings began with one tournament at each course. After each tournament, a midday ceremony honoring our veterans and fallen soldiers took place with a flyby and playing of Taps. Lunch was served, then the second round of golfers hit the course. After the final golfers had finished, all were invited to Mt. Hawley Country Club for dinner, drinks, and live music.
Heart Technologies CEO Lance Lelm enjoyed a day of golfing amongst veterans at Mt. Hawley Country Club. Marketing Coordinator Faith Barker served as a volunteer at Weaver Ridge Golf Club, signing in golfers and driving a golf cart around answering questions and serving guests. The weather was perfect, the skies were blue, and there was no better day to celebrate the brave men and women who protect our freedom each and every day.
