Phillip Krumholz' Shaving and BarberianaAuction Rules and BiddingAbbreviations Key to abbreviations: se = single edge reinforced back Bidding You may phone (309) 697-1120, email, or send a postcard to submit your bids. Bids sent by mail or email must be received by close of business Thursday before the auction. You may bid by phone until the close of all items on Auction Night. I recommend that you send your TOP BIDS by email, as you will receive confirmation that your bids were received. Your bid must be $1 or higher than the last bid unless there is a specific minimum bid listed for the item. THE PRICE YOU BID IS THE PRICE YOU PAY (plus postage and insurance), without add-ons of buyers' fees or other hidden costs. I do not take bids in increments less than $1 - if someone bids in fractions of a dollar the bid will be rounded up or down. Auctioneer will be the arbiter of any disputes arising from bidding. Items are sold one at a time like a live auction as bidders stop bidding, but unlike a live auction all this is happening simultaneously. Bidding ends for an item when there has not been a bid on that item for 20 minutes after 8:30 pm Central Standard Time (CST) on auction close night. Some items will close out much sooner than others. For the last hours of bidding, from 8:00 pm (CST) until the end of auction close night, we will accept only quick phone bids, no chit chat or filibusters - so please have your item numbers and bids well thought out before you call. This is the only fair way to assure that everyone has an equal opportunity to bid. If you are bidding by email or snail mail, write down what you are willing to pay as a maximum bid for each item, and your bids will advance incrementally up to your maximum point. You can bid as often as you like and as high as you like. I will be glad to tell you any time the current high bid for an item. Examples Item #1 - Customer "A" emails a bid for a straight razor that needs a minimum bid of $60, but he commits to going as high as $80. No one else bids against him. At 8:50 pm on auction close night, he is awarded the item for $60. Item #2 - Customer "A" phones in a starting bid the day before the auction close, which is just the minimum bid amount. Auction close starts at 8:30 pm. Customer "B" phones in a bid at 8:40 pm to raise the bid. I start the clock for another 20 minutes for that item. "A" calls at 8:50 pm to raise the bid. I start the clock for another 20 minutes. "B" does not bid again, so at 9:10 pm the item goes to bidder "A". Item #3 - Customer "D" emails a bid for the minimum amount, as does Customer "E", but the first bid in (by any method) is the one accepted. Customer "D" is in the lead until 8:30 pm, then the phone starts ringing like crazy. Furious $10 per call bids seem like a fight to the death between bidders "A", "B", and "C", with bidders "D" and "E" being out of the game early. Each time someone calls in, the clock starts another 20 minutes for that item. Eventually "A" drops out. For 2 hours this goes on, and at 11:23 pm, "C" is awarded the item. HAVE FUN!!Condition of Items There is no misrepresentation of items. Items in this auction are in "good" condition unless otherwise noted. Significant defects will be mentioned. The same policies apply for auction items as catalog items in terms of shipping, legality of items, postage, guaranteed return priveleges, etc. Note: On electrical appliances, I do not guarantee that they will run. I do not plug them in. Condition refers to the appearance of these items only. Keep in mind that old things are going to show normal amounts of wear, rust, etc. commensurate with their age and / or purpose. Confidentiality Buyers and sellers will be kept strictly confidential. Damaged Items If you receive something damaged in transit, DO NOT return the item to me for credit. You must take the box immediately to the United States Post Office, with all packing (as intact as possible) and show them the parcel. You then fill out a claim for the damaged goods and they will keep the item while the claim is being processed. I will help with this by vouching for value, etc. of the damaged goods. Notification If you have not called me to check your bids and you win items, I will notify you by email or postcard that you have won. You do not have to wait until the auction closes to find out if you have won an item; you can call anytime you like. Payment Domestic US buyers: Please pay by check or money order, or bank check, and make checks payable to: Phillip Krumholz. International buyers: You may pay by cash in US dollars if you wish to take the risk. "International" checks or checks drawn on American banks, payable always in US dollars, will be accepted. Item will not be shipped until payment has been received in full. Please see shipping rates also. Returns Your satisfaction is guaranteed for auction items. If for any reason an article is returned (other than being misdescribed by me), it will be offered to the runner-up bidder for the runner-up bid. That person may accept the bid or decline. If he declines, the item will be offered to the next highest bidder at his highest bid. If that person declines, the item will be run at minimum bid amount in an upcoming auction or removed from the auction. Shipping Rates Shipping rates include insurance. Due to postal rates going up, I have had to raise my postage charges. For domestic orders, please add the following postage: Unsold Items Anytime after 9:00 pm on auction close night (if there was no initial starting bid) unsold lots may be purchased at the minimum bid amount until final disposition is made of the article (i.e., until the article is removed from the auction, returned to the consignor, placed in Sales catalog, or sold to another at the minimum bid amount.)
