Please join us in congratulating The Children's Dyslexia Center of Peoria as the winner of The Great Heart Give 2011. The Great Heart Give annually awards a $10,000 technology package to a charitable organization serving the communities of Peoria, Decatur and/or Springfield.
Heart Technologies' CEO Lance Lelm says " the thing to remember is that the needs are great right here in our own community. There are so many children and adults that have a different set of challenges than most of us and I'm very happy that we can help these organizations accomplish their goals.
Twelve organizations vied for the prize. Over 15,000 votes were cast during the period of March 30 through April 30.
The Children's Dyslexia Center of Peoria: A Scottish Rite Charity opened in January of 2008 to provide one-on-one instruction to children with dyslexia in Eastern Illinois. The Children's Dyslexia Center of Peoria provides, free of charge, the highest quality multisensory reading and written language tutorial services for children with dyslexia, through a network of nationally recognized centers of excellence. The Center is also responsible for promoting and encouraging education of tutorial trainees, professionals, and the public, to become resources in teaching children to read.
Two Runner-Up awards of an HP TouchScreen Computer went to the top vote getters in the non Grand Prize winning community--Springfield's Children's Advocacy Centers of Illinois and the Decatur Christian School.
Peoria's South Side Mission was the recipient of the first Great HEART Give in 2010. "It was a pleasure getting to know the staff and all the services that South Side Mission offers the Peoria area. Phil and his crew at the Mission are true blessings to so many people here in Peoria." Lelm says. "I look forward to working with The Children's Dyslexia Center of Peoria here in 2011. I am proud that the team at Heart has the technical ability and compassion to truly help this community. I want to thank all the charitable organizations for their time and interest in our community."
South Side Mission's Director, Phil Newton stated "Winning the inaugural Great Heart Give in 2010 allowed South Side Mission to receive a vital piece of our Connections Database project and helped us in our transition into the digital age. Heart not only is a great descriptor for the contest, it equally describes their generous company."

Nominations for The Great Heart Give 2012 will begin in January 2012. All 501(c)3 organizations which provide services to the greater communities of Peoria, Decatur and/or Springfield are qualified to participate.
